Welcome to the DOOLITTLE SCHOOL Website and the 2021-2022 School Year!

Doolittle School is located on Cornwall Avenue, set back from the main road and surrounded by playing fields, playgrounds and woods. The grounds are enhanced by a Nature Trail and some beautiful plantings. The school building surrounds a courtyard, which includes a pond, plantings and outdoor amphitheater. The courtyard is home to fish, birds, butterflies, and turtles.

Doolittle School is proud to serve approximately 485 students and their families. The Doolittle School staff includes classroom teachers, specials teachers and resource teachers. We have a school counselor, school psychologist, speech pathologist, occupational therapist, instructional assistants, a learning support team and a school nurse. We have seven teacher assistants who supervise children at lunch and lunch recess and four talented staff members who work in the kitchen preparing healthy meals each day. Finally, Ms O’Brien, the Doolittle School Principal, the exceptional office staff and maintenance crew are always here to help.

Our challenging curriculum is based on Common Core Standards. Students receive instruction in reading, writing, mathematics, science and social studies.  Additionally weekly instruction is provided in art, music, library, physical education, and health. Technology is integrated into our curriculum at all grade levels. We work hard to provide an engaging academic program and a positive community.

Students take part in leadership and community service at Doolittle School. Our School-Wide Town Meetings are completely run by students. Students in grades 4 through 6 have the opportunity to serve on the Student Council. Each month a different grade level of students runs a community service project. Students have run a coat/hat drive, book drive, collection for an animal shelter, collection for the food pantry and others.

Meetings with Doolittle Staff, or visits to the classroom, are available to parents by appointment. Just call our office at 203-272-3549 to set it up. You can also reach us by email.
